View from the press box - Game 3

I still don't know how this team does it, but they find a new way to surprise every day.
After enduring what Kevin Constantine called the most adverse conditions a team could be put through on a travel day, they still found a way to win.

All year long the team has played poor hockey games on travel days, but not Saturday. Not on a day where the airport had dozens and dozens of diversions and my street turned into a river for the first time since I moved there in 2003.

The Aeros got to the rink less than three hours before game time and went out there and played like they had been here all day. Just like the Rivermen had. They had an earlier flight out of St. Louis and made it to Houston before the weather hit.

“But (the Aeros) really hung in there, they didn't complain or moan, they just came to the rink and said, 'Let's see if we can do this.'”

Before tonight, the Aeros were 3-7 in games played on days that involved airplanes. Conversely, today was Peoria's first of the season. I love the AHL, but that right there tells you how jacked up it is for the Aeros to be so isolated.

I took a lot of grief for my rant about Anton the other day, but man has he shut me up in a hurry. He was beat a few times and got some help from the post on a shot by Regier in the second period, but he made the big saves when he needed to. He did that in game 2 as well, after not doing it at all in the first game.

Three stars were right on. Locke scored two sweet goals, Kolanos assisted on both of them, and Peter Olvecky looked good in what will be his last game with the Aeros this season. He is leaving the team to play for Slovakia.
