Okay, Andrew will have his game story up here once he finishes his duties for the Chron. And I will have my big story up later, as will Heather. But I thought I would dash off this quick note to fill you on some of the important matters arising from tonight's 3-2 OT loss to San Antonio.
First, the good news. The Aeros are officially in the playoffs, as they needed just one point to clinch. The bad news, Peoria got a point, though it lost in OT to Rockford, so that guaranteed Peoria the number two seed. So on either Wednesday or Thursday of next week, the Aeros will start the playoffs, playing either Milwaukee or Peoria.
More bad news. Barry Brust was injured at about 14:00 of the third period. He was in the trainer's room when we were down there after the game, so we weren't able to speak him, and Kevin Constantine had yet to hear from the trainer. But Khudobin will be the goalie tomorrow night in San Antonio and the Aeros will be bringing someone in to back him up tomorrow night. They're hopeful that Schaefer will be available for Sunday afternoon, but they don't want to rush Schaefer.
Maxim Noreau also injured his foot blocking a shot in the first period, and he had a big bag of ice wrapped around his right foot as he limped out of the trainer's room.
So that's the quick update.
