Aeros On The Radio

The Aeros announced yesterday that their games will be returning, once again, to 1070. There will be 78 games on the radio this season, and nothing was mentioned about any of the games being joined in process, which happend on occasion last season.

Just a few quick notes from today's press conference with GM Jim Mill and head coach Mike Yeo, and it actually involves info not dealing with them.

Joe O'Donnell announced that the team's radio home this season should again be 1070 KNTH. They're just trying to get a few details ironed out. And he's also hopeful of working out a deal with Fox Sports to broadcast select Aeros games again this season.

About The Aeros On The Radio

I'm sure many of you heard the announcement yesterday that the Aeros games are returning to 1070 KNTH this year. But for those of you who didn't read the fine print...

You will only get to hear 64 full games on the radio. Six games, including tonight's, will not be aired at all, and another 10, most of them which appear to be Sunday afternoon games, will be joined in progress at 5:00, which means sometime in the third period. The six games not being aired, are not being aired due to college football, but I'm not sure of what the excuse is for the Sunday games not being on the radio. For what it is worth, according to Chron.com and the KNTH website (not safe for sane people), there is no college football game on 1070 tonight, so I don't know why tonight's game is not on the radio.

However, as Joe O'Donnell mentioned, all games can be seen on AHL Live, and I'm sure if you try, you might be able to find the radio broadcast of the visiting team somewhere on the internets. For instance, if you don't want to pay the $6.99 for AHL Live tonight, you should be able to get the Manitoba broadcast by going here.

Just a note...

For those of you unable to travel up to Winnipeg for this weekend's games, you will, like last year, be able to watch them on AHL Live. And I believe, if the team's website is to be believed, that you will be able to hear the games on 1070.

Possible Aeros Radio Moves

I know after the discussion with Joe O'Donnell that some of you were worried about the Aeros' games being on the radio this upcoming season. I can't give specifics yet, but I have learned from two different sources that the Aeros, as well as being in discussions to return to 1070, are also in discussions with 1560 The Game.

Personally, I'm pulling for the games to end up on 1560 as not only would I no longer have to listen to commercials for programming that makes Sean Hannity sound sane, but I really think it would really be better for the Aeros to be on a sports station that would be able to provide them a better platform to appeal to sports fans.

(And for those concerned about 1560's weak signal, they are just awaiting approval from the FCC to use a new signal that will match up with 740s.)
