Locke Departs for Big Apple

The New York Rangers announced that they have signed Corey Locke to a contract. There are no details to the agreement other than a Rangers release that they have signed Locke.

Locke was one of the Aeros major scorers and contributors last season, and like the other big scorers, he was a free agent. I have yet to see anything regarding the contract status of Krys Kolanos, Jesse Schultz, or Matt Beaudoin who were the team's other big scoring contributors.

Not good news for us for sure.

I hope he gets a shot with the big club.

well I surprised but the big apple its probably a one way. I doubt its a two way. Kolanos turned down an offer from edmonton. Don't know about the other 2.

I don't see him getting a one way at all, but if he did more power to him.

yeah I have no clue although our big scorer this year could be Princess. Krog and Haydar are out there for us to snatch up.

I do not see Pouliot with the Aeros this year. He'll make it in MN or they'll try to trade him for whatever they can get. It's make or break time for Benoit and I hope he makes it. He has skills so let's hope the staff in MN can get him to produce on a regular basis.

looking at new york's capspace they have over 10,000,000. With Locke's scoring touch it could be one way or he could just make the team out of camp. We need to get something as far as scoring Beudoin wasn't here all of the season so he might be gettable Kolanos is probably looking for one way or 2 way with a good ahl team. With Pouliot gone that means we need scorer more than ever.

I just don't see the NYR giving a guy with one NHL game a one way contract. Taking his size into it as well I just don't see it. Maybe if he had been in their org for a while but not a free agent signing. Just my opinion though Josh.

We certainly have holes to fill though.

Maybe he's the back up groin to Gaborik.

I ran the stats on Mcmillan, Almond & Kaufman none of them prove to be BIG scoring threats they half way decent numbers when comparing them to locke & Kolanos. Of course the year before Locke came here he had 72 points. Mcmillan had that total this year in Major Junior. So there there is a chance he could be good. I do believe we will get somebody I don't want to face Hartford although who is there goalie

well on the backend we look ok so far with Noreau's cannon bomb coming in from point. we the holes don't seem to be there if so they are microscopic not like the holes in offense

Good for Locke...and it is closer to home for him, as well.

I'll miss Corey more than I can say. I wish him the very best and hope it's a one-way contract for big bucks. He'll be worth every penny! Sure hope the Aeros get someone who can score ...
