Freddie Chabot has a new gig

This is great news for Chabot fan.
According to inews 880 AM (an insanely reliable source), Freddie Chabot (who played several stints for the Aeros from 1996-2001) is the new goaltending consultant for the Edmonton Oilers.

And yes, he will have his work cut out for him.

In my opinion, the Aeros should have retired his number (along with that of Mark Freer's) a long time ago. They both hold team records that will never be broken.

Retiring his number now would mean nothing, I'm afraid, because very few people know either one of them or how special they were to the franchise once upon a time.

But I digress ...

Good for him. He was a total class act and an awesome netminder. Last I knew he had a netminer school. One could do much worse than to learn from Mr. Chabot.

He also had a distinguished career in Austria and Germany following his successes with the Aeros.. what a guy! Thanks for bringing the news to us, Mr. Ferraro

artsnhockey - Several of us have Chabot Ice Tigers jerseys. Sometimes you'll see people wearing them at the TC.

Will have to keep my eyes peeled for them....I LOVE defunct teams' jerseys, they are so colorful and whimsical ;), especially the minors.
Can't wait for Aeros/hockey season to start up again-so many teams, in TEXAS alone, to go to while on the road (and also see Operas and art, all in one fell swoop - Dallas, Austin, Ft.Forth)..AEROS, plus Rampage,
Ice Rays, Brahmas, Gorillas, Austin Stars, Dallas Stars, - am sure I've missed a few.

Agreed on retiring Freddie's and Freerzy's sweaters! Would be a great event for opening night this October.
