The information that I got earlier today about the AHL schedule was not entirely correct ... and the AHL has confirmed that its schedule is not delayed and could be release some time the week of August 3.No date at this time has been confirmed, and a league spokesperson said in an e-mail to me this afternoon that the AHL "does not wait for the NBA schedule to be released publicly to finish" its own schedule.
The e-mail goes on ... "Once the NBA gets deep enough into its own schedule-making that its teams can release available dates back to their buildings, our clubs in Houston, Milwaukee, Cleveland and San Antonio can provide us with the missing pieces we need to fill out the rest of our schedule. That should be as soon as next week."
After that, he said, it should take another week to be approved by the board of directors.
First of all, I am glad that the league reviews blogs about its teams so they can snuff out any incorrect information. Ironically, I kind of do the same thing "at my real job" so even though I kind of look like an idiot here, getting the right info clearly outweighs my mistake.
Anyway, this great news on all counts.

Could the real reason for the delay be that we took their head scheduling guy and they are lost without him?
Trying to figure out how to fit 16 3-in-3s into the Aeros season...
Anon,
That could be part of it, but there is no need to speculate until the NBA schedule comes out.
If it gets to be more than 8-10 days after that, then we'll have to ask some questions.
But I would much rather them take their time. Last year was as absolute farce ... even something more along the lines of their 07-08 schedule would be more, for lack of a better word, sane.
The AHL has a deadline of before August 14th. So I guarantee that it will be out before then. I know what is delaying the NBA Schedule they Are absolutley Lazy especially David Stern
The voice of reason speaks again.
The AHL schedule will not be out before the NBA schedule. I don't care when the AHL deadline is.
Otherwise, Houston, San Antonio, Lake Erie, and Milwaukee will all be looking for new places to play hockey as the NBA teams in those cities have priorities over arena dates. And the NBA is not going to let a minor hockey league dictate when its games are played.
They'll let Yanni, though.
anon you must be with the nba or a NBA lover. I got a question why are yall so lazy there is no GOOD reason to delay your schedule again Stop being a Princess your players probably couldn't even skate. Shaq couldn't Because he is SO big. TO Me the NBA is just a bunch of whiny cry babies that don't know how to schedule
That's because no one WANTS to be in the building when he is.
Another thing the NHL has had there schedule out a week. why is that because they don't sit on there lazy asses. The NBA should be one to 2 days behind the NHL but no the NBA wants to be LAZY
Heather, that was the NHL that got pushed around by Yanni, not the NBA. The NBA got pushed around by Vince McMahon. And I can see the NBA's point: I wouldn't want a bunch of roided up wrestlers coming after me.
John that was a single owner & a totally different scenario that you like to blow out of preportion. It Was Stan Kronke owner of the Denver Nuggets who made a few mistakes on the issue.
Oh right, John. I thought I was onto something. ;)
There is a way the AHL could finalize but not release until the whiniest babies release theres which is the NBA gets done with The Arenas that have AHL teams first & the NBA could be nice to its fans which unlike the AHL its not. Give there fans a peek at the schedule for the NBA teams with AHL teams in thier arenas
You need time to sell tickets. We need our schedule out by August 14th so that we can sell tickets & get things done in time. 2 of the NBA guys should know this if they have GOOD memories
Sorry for hijacking the comments with this BUT
Josh, refrain from commenting unless you have actual (verifiable) information to pass along instead of your whiny, name calling conjecture.
the thing is the NBA doesn't have a reason to delay schedule making just because they want to last year they did but this year they don't NHL is better than them 1000x over I would pay 100 dollars to go to an NHL game but they couldn't pay me to sit on the damn Bench of an NBA game because they are lazy. NHL says the schedule will be out on a certain day & it is. I know the NBA is whiny because they got to have everything there way. I wish the NBA would Just get ballz & hurry up
Punctuation and proper capitalization help tremendously. Try it sometime.
And you don't know what the reasons are for the NBA not having the schedule done, so until you work for them, don't speculate.
They haven't said anything made it public. If I worked for them it would be out already. Because its simple stupid time is money. The owners can kiss my ass because I don't care what they say there players are just going to have to get tougher. Obviously you know nothing about hockey. You must work for them. Last year they had a team move legit reason this year nothing except lazyness or Owners acting like rich babies who will rip you off any chance they get. NBA should be over 14 days behind the best league in pro sports the NHL.
Does someone need a prescription refilled?
Or the babysitter needs to pay closer attention when Josh is on the computer.
Great news Andrew!
I am just telling the truth about how I feel about the NBA. Go ahead delete them but I will NEVER GO TO A NBA GAME UNTIL they speed up the proccess of Schedule make. Of course they don't know how to do that.I guess thats why the NHL has first priority in arenas like Dallas Colorado LA even Phoenix New York New Jersey . Because the NHL gets stuff done
WOOHOO! Thanks for the correction Andrew.
I don't see the trash can. Thanks alot Andrew lets just hope you are not a doofis on the red panic button thing that someone not me might have pushed
Josh, Denver, the NY Rangers and Atlanta are owned by the same people who own the arena and the NBA team. So it's not a problem. Phoenix and New Jersey are teams that don't share an arena with the NBA. Neither does Minnesota nor the Islanders.
I thought they did. I know BIG D & do mean dallas has the same arena & owned by different people. This is a prediction that I make August 6th or sooner for the AHL Schedule the 16 3-in-3s you could have at least6 of them all 3 games in texas. I still can't see trash cans there might be something different in my PC because I can't see the avatars
Hey, when I screw up, the league takes notice ... I did apologize for not sending them an e-mail to confirm my information.
And it's not that that info was totally wrong, it's just that the AHL is moving forward and I was wrong for calling the schedule delayed.
Next time email the league for confirmation. My offical prediction for when it will be out Something keeps telling August 4th.
Andrew that is your most recent photo isn't it? They say that parenthood changes a fella? :)
Any way you look at it, getting the schedule sooner, rather than later, is good news. Thanks for the post, Andrew. And hey, we all screw up sometimes!
