The Aeros can beat anybody in the AHL. I'm nearly convinced of this.
But I still picked Manitoba in 5 in my PHN preview, because while I think they CAN beat anybody, they have to be so completely focused and their game has to be clicking so well and consistently, I just don't see them sustaining that kind of intensity for yet another series.Though with a day to reflect, I think my gut really says more like Manitoba in 6. But my predictions are never right anyway, so it doesn't matter. And I'm by far the least convinced on this one as I have been all along. The Aeros keep proving they're a better team than they appear to be. And if that sounds like a back-handed compliment ("you're smarter than you look!"), well I guess it pretty much is.
They've already gone a round longer than I ever expected, so maybe it's time to just chill out and enjoy the ride.
Meanwhile, here's a little on Russo's discussion with KC and some Aeros talk.
And here's the latest from the Moose camp.

Well, have been reading Russo's rants and "Moose" interview and what I get out of it, is: they are somewhat afraid of our predictably unpredictable AEROS.
With KK and others hungry for a move up...I can't believe they'd let it all go after the 'last
stand' fights! Remember the Alamo and San Jacinto! What falls, will rise!
However, I am no hockey expert such as our esteemed T3I contributors are, so am strictly going on my 'want them to win' this Calder Cup year, wishful wistful feeling.
GO AEROS!
Just wanted to throw up the fact that Im in Winnipeg now, and thanks to the Aeros (and Ms. C) have a credential waiting at the arena... so we'll have pictures!
Temperatures are just above freezing, and its actually snowing a little out here on the 20th floor of the Fairmont. Unforunately, the "Gold Floor" does not mean "best". The termostat is faulty, the windows are whistling and the chair rocks (and shouldnt!). Oh and the toliet doesn't flush well (yeah, that whole being so high up in the sky physics crap)
Luckily, for me, this isn't my room :-) (But my room on the 16th doesn't offer free internet, go figure)
Looking forward to throwing a summary of the game, and hopefully an Aeros win, later tonight.
Well, obviously, the games over. Quick notes before going thru the pics. A VERY defensive oriented game leading to very few quality chances for either team.
Schneider faced about 30 odd shots against, but very few seemed to actually "hit" him (e.g. about 15 were wide).
Not a very physical game, with both teams being tentative to do anything extreme. Penalty calls were few and far between.
Interresting note from some Wild fans there. Manitoba has a No Peanut Section for those with Allergies. The Wild fans were hoping they (and every arena) had a "no D****e-bag section". I think we should get on that idea! (Though the Mantiba fans were pretty cool, 10k singing along to the Canadian anthem was pretty neat in such a small building)
Lets rebound from this game and put up a strong effort tomorrow night. Photos to come eventually tonight/tomorrow morn.
