Also, according to Chops' president Steve NItzel, there is still a "very good chance" PRO hockey will remain in Des Moines.
Pro hockey, sure, as in the new IHL or the CHL ...

Wow, that's an ugly situation.
And now we have the reason for the "Chops" -- “This is the reason why we went to the Chops, so we can change affiliations without changing names all the time.”
And "Murray said Schlegel Sports had made only one payment out of “seven or eight” agreed upon in the contract."
That's pretty much something to be upset about in my book.
Recession strikes again. Owners in trouble (?) can't make their payments.
Fans can't afford tickets - food or fun, may be the question for many.
Sponsors are pulling back or even out. More Teams may become defunct.
Am having a 'crabby' day..too many negative news.
Yes, other teams are having financial difficulty even on the NHL front with Dallas and Atlanta this year. Here's another PHN story about a CHL team:

I do have to say that by the sound of it the Chops were porking the Ducks -- hard.
Couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise.
FWIW, the IHL (nee USHL) already is in Des Moines.
The few weekend games attended there this year seemed rather well attended, hope there's another AHL team there next year.
