Round 2, Game 2: The Bonus Installment

Yet again here are some knock-yer-socks-off photos from our pal Chris Jerina. Can you believe he sits in the stands and takes these? Lots of one of my very favorite photo subjects, Kolanos, in this batch, looking every bit the Greek God with the flowing blond hair.

The full set is here. The teasers are here:

I call this one "That gap is MINE, bitches!" It wasn't, but man, you can see him gunning for it. Awesome.

I call this one, "Shoulda shot near side where all that net is showing, Lammers." Damn.

Here are some quotes from Kevin Constantine that the guys over at A.S.S. rounded up for us:
"If you looked at the first five minutes you gotta give the game to them guys. They were pretty good in the first five minutes. They got a goal out of it -- it's the same thing as last night, we get a goal in the beginning and it really helps to get that first goal. I thought Milwaukee's energy was great to start that game. And we hung in there I thought for the next while, and then in the end they showed why they're the division champs and they took over the game."
Asked by some other guy if the 2nd Admirals goal was the pivotal moment of the game....
"The pivotal moment was the first five minutes and they won that...that was the first little establishing your turf. And then we hung in there enough on the road to make it 1-1 and then boom they get the 2-1 which is a real important goal too, and then took us out of it in the third."
RE: getting the split and heading home.
"What are you going to say? I'm going to say it for the eighth millionth time in hockey. The road team went and got a win on the road in the first two games, so you can't be real frustrated with that. Now you're going home and so.....blah blah."
I double checked with Ryan... he really literally said, "blah blah." Hilarious.

More great pics for sure.

Hard to believe KK didn't score on that shot that hit the crossbar, it was sooo close. Coulda shifted the balance of the game. I'm thinking it was on the 5 on 3.

I love the "blah blah", the play was "blah blah" for much of the night.

Like I said in chat, you go into the visitors house and steal a game, you've done your job. Now Mil must come to Houston and steal one back.

My concern, Fred, is that they didn't just squeak by in this game. They controlled it, top to bottom exactly the way a good team does. It didn't feel like a "we've got home ice momentum" victory. It felt like a "We're better than you anywhere" victory.

Oh well, I guess we'll see.

Oh I agree, Mil controlled the game.

But the real question is was it Mil shutting the Aeros down or was it the Aeros pulling that funk we've seen all year with the Jekyll and Hyde impression?

We'll never KNOW the answer to that one but time will tell which team can get it together for four games first. It should be a little easier for the skill guys at home because the home team has last change. That will free up KK and Locke a little more. Keep in mind Schultz is out too and I have no idea if he'll be back or not but another threat would be nice.

Yeah, I just didn't get a sense that the Aeros were playing much below their capability, but that's a good point on the home ice. Hopefully that makes a difference.

Would be awfully nice to have Schultz back but ankles are a bitch. Hell, as bad as Slovakia was yesterday against the Czech Republic (8-0), Olvecky would be more valuable here.

If you look at this photo from Chris

You'll see KK was ever so close here, I think this may have been the 5 on 3 early in the game. He gets this goal and the game may turn out different. If Pouliot scores on the break away it's a different game.

We've had head shaking games from the Aeros all year and they only have to be a touch off in the playoffs to not get the win. I'm not in a panic yet by any means but they MUST get more pressure on MacIntyre than 19 shots, many from the outside.

Anton was certainly disappointed in two of the Ad goals he gave up and we missed at least two chances. So it probably wasn't as bad of a game as it appeared.

Here's to a good game 3 on Tuesday.

That's the spirit, FC. ;)

Well, it seems whatever team can take a few punches and draw the roughing call will win the game based on Games 1/2.
