From the Abby paper in Canada:
"The Calgary Flames and an Abbotsford investor group hoping to bring AHL hockey to the Fraser Valley strengthened their case Tuesday as the two parties signed a 10-year relocation deal."
Pretty self explanatory and I am guessing this is just up to the board of directors now.
All we need is to get the Utah Grizzlies back in the AHL. That way, it's a natural half-way stop for teams flying to Asia for AHL hockey.

LOL I heard Andrews on XM a couple of days ago talking about this and he said that yeah, it's pretty much just gonna have to go before the board. Implied that it isn't exactly a no-brainer, but maybe that was just him being diplomatic.
Sure, you can either lose a team or lose money traveling somewhere to play the new one.
Will have to be one hell of a subsidy.

Comments from the Canucks on the Abbotsford move
"They were interested in the Canucks as a partner in their new building," Zimmerman said. "This didn't float under our noses. We have a great situation in Manitoba. Our relationship there precluded us from making a move."
Zimmerman said the Canucks did not view the Flames' move as an encroachment on their territory and predicted that more AHL teams would come west.
So the Canucks expect more AHL teams to move West ...
