12/31 - Aeros 4 at Rockford 5 (OT)

No other way to slice this one up, but the Aeros were very lucky to get a point on New Year's Eve in Rockford. I am sure I could find one if I had the time to look it up, but I can't remember a worse last 10 or so minutes of a hockey game.

Absolute inexcusable implosion.

After the Aeros went up 4-2, they got the attitude that leads to a loss on the road.
We got our four goals, now we can cruise to a win.

And they stopped playing. There was no discipline, no drive, no teamwork and more importantly, zero goaltending. To be sure I am not just singling out Anton here, but he was awful. Slow to square to the puck, panic-y and flustered. And really what he needs to do, it looks like, is take his stick and completely rack one of his own d-men and say "Get the eff out of my way". Can you believe the number of goals that Anton has allowed with his own players screening his view? Are you kidding me?

I don't know what is going on with this team now. They seem to be scoring more and more goals all the time, but their defense and responsibility is long gone. Throw in that once very good goaltending, too.

I think the players have subconsciously revolted again Constantine. I am not calling this a mutiny, but there was an obvious frustration in the tone of the coaching staff at the end of the last home stand.

Again, the good news is that the boys got a point last night because they scored four goals. But the power plays were nine to two in favor of the Hogs. And when you are outshot by 10, that combination usually does not end up in your team actually gaining ground in the standings (Texas lost at Manitoba).

Give the boys a break tonight when they get pounded again by the Milwaukee Admirals. The Aeros are playing their third in three and fourth in five, while the Admirals have been off for a few days.

I am not sure if Brust will get the call in goal, but it is my impression that Dubielewicz will not be back until at least Sunday against Abbotsford. My guess is that Brust goes and gives the boys a chance early on, but the Aeros do not fare well offensively when they are really tired and will have a tough time getting a second goal against Milwaukee.

Happy New Year every one.
I don't know about you, but I am thankful that the Aeros are still in playoff contention and, good or bad, are getting more and more interesting all the time.

Well, I’m glad someone at T3I finally sobered up and posted …er, uh… I mean Happy New Year to the folks at T3I!

I’m not sure what’s tougher to take, the Aeros in the third period , the drubbing my Buckeyes are likely to take again at the hands of the PAC-10, otr Team USA’s shoot-out loss to Canada.

First Period – Not so great, but better than Wednesday night
Second Period – Pretty good effort
Third Period – BLEEEECH!!!

Other observations:

I guess the reason for starting him was much like getting a pilot who’s just crashed into the air as soon as possible afterwards. Doesn’t seem to have worked. Khudobin must like the weather on the sunny Florida Gulf Coast.

I think one needs a calculator to total up the penalties the Aeros took in the third period and OT. KC must have been close to blowing a gasket.

For once, when the refs met to discuss a goal, we actually came out on the good end of the decision. That’s kinda of rare over the years.

Based on the shootout in Saskatoon, I’m also wondering if Campbell (USA juniors goalie) is related somehow to BB…………

Word verification "molarl". A Razorism for an area of the lower face. As in, "Eriksson took that puck right in the molarl region".

Jesus H. Christ, I wish I'd been drunk last night. I was, instead, somewhere between pissed and not giving a shit. But almost unbearably sober given how awful my teams were last night.

Boston Puck Party, maybe?

The revolt of the 'guyz of ice'. Are you implying a 'Rampage-blame the coach and fire him' situation here? And as the blogger from SA mentioned, the players ought to take a good look at themselves and take some of the blame for the situation.

I sure hope not, the guyz are supposed to be "VETERANS", afterall, and really ought to know 'better.
Maybe they DO think they DO know better and are tuning everyone and everything else out? Spare the rod, spoil the child HUH?

Has the 'blame the goalie', 'blame the defense','blame the coaches' started already? Why not blame the 'hirers' of these guys?

Why blame the coach who did a super job last year bringing the team to the semifinals despite a horrible travel schedule, inexperienced players, injuries, and .... well, you all know what happened and so should at least 1/3of the current guyz!!!

And now I am tired of all that and will go and drink some "KickAss" (no, really the label says so)red wine from Texas, yeah!

I am not advocating the firing of anyone ... I just get the slight impression that it is taking longer than usual to get the guys on the same page.

Kind of why you don't see this team with any long winning or losing streaks in them. two steps forward, one step back ... that kind of thing.

If the Aeros stay close to the fourth spot, they'll always have a chance. But they did very little with a very, very favorable schedule in December.

It is just pretty much hell from here on out.
