New Training Camp/Preseason Information

The Aeros will report to camp Sunday, Sept. 20 and will take physicals Monday morning.
Later that day, they will practice in Sugar Land for the first time.

On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Aeros will host the San Antonio Rampage in their first preseason game and will travel to Cedar Park to take on the Stars Monday, Sept. 28.

Fans should be happy that they'll get a chance to see the team live before it opens up on the road the following week.

I know I plan on driving over to Austin to check out the new building. With the game being on a Monday night, how many of you will be able or willing to make the trek for preseason?

As an additional note, the Texas Stars are facing the Dallas Stars the following Wednesday and tickets for that went on sale today.

Would love to do both. I love my dog but he's hindering my hockey freedom...

What time is the match against Rampage starting? Any good bicycle routes to Sugar Land from West U? Hopeless? I sort of remember hearing that there are no busses to Sugar Land? The game will be there, right?

Yeah, I don't think I'd try a bike ride to Sugar Land from West U. :) You'd do better to tie a bunch of helium balloons to a lawn chair and hope the wind is blowing to the southwest. :)

I would imagine 7 or 7:30 down in SugarLand. And yes, hopeless for those living in Houston without a car for many reasons.

But ... catch a ride! There are many wonderful Aeros fans that would not mind taking you down to SugarLand in exchange for a cup of coffee and/or a cheeseburger Happy Meal!

Ok, I was hoping for something more like a 12:30 start. Cycling back from there at 10pm would probably be - to put it mildly - quite hairy. Not that I know much about the suburbs, but...I keep forgetting how spread out Houston is. I would be back about 2am, if at all.
So I guess that means I'll listen to "Ride-for-coffee" offers. Let's see if I get any.

FinnAir -

Shoot me an email, which you should be able to track down via my profile. If I am in town that weekend I will probably try to make it to the game and I live in the Museum District so you would pretty much be on my way.

FinnAir, I(maybe better half, too) will drive out IF they practice the afternoon or evening of Monday 9/21, for sure, so you are welcome to ride along - unless you're afraid of women drivers :-)? No drinks required. We live in Meyerland.
my email can be found at my blog http://artandhockey.blogspot.com/

Very nice people here!

Thanks James and artandhockey!

Will look for your emails and then get in touch. Let's see how many Finns looking for a ride will surface :-)

FinnAir... I do drive a 'green'car... green in this case equals smallish.. no SUV or Limo here ;-), so keep the numbers down ! And no, I don't speak Finnish, just German etc.

Any word when tix go on sale?

Ticket sales, etc. will likely be announced when the news is release by the Aeros.

To my knowledge, neither the Rampage or Stars have released this information either.

We'll post a link when the Aeros do issue a press release.

Artandhockey, no worries, it would only be myself. Don't know any other Finns in here, just tried to make a :-) about the fact that this a public forum so in theory you could get an email from several FinnAirs.
Good to know that there is somebody somewhere out there with a green car.

FinnAir, I'll be headed to SLICE for the pre-season game as well, and would be happy to give you a ride. Also, I'm probably taking a week of vacation September 21-25 and plan to scope out the new team during training camp at some point during the week. If you're interested, you're welcome to join me.

Even more offers!
I did email artandhockey but no matter how hard I tried I could not find the email add for James.

So CatTrick can I contact you somehow?

Regarding Austin, I doubt I would go there for a regular season game so a preseason is out of the question. Four hundred miles of travel by car ($100 easy, all things considered), probably a night in a hotel (or getting home too bleary-eyed to be functional the next morning - meaning a day of vacation either way) vs. watching it online for a few bucks. That's easy.
