The photos below were taken outside of Toyota Center about 10 minutes before the start of last night's game with the San Antonio Rampage. It was the final regular season home game. It was also, probably, the final ever regular season home game to be played at Toyota Center.
These were not people trying to buy tickets. These were people who had already purchased tickets and were attempting to pick them up at the Will Call Window. But the Toyota Center ticketing system crashed and the tickets could not be printed. So all of these people were stuck outside as the game began.
It appears that most of the people made it inside by the time the first period ended. Still, it's an insult to the fans that they had to miss parts of the game because of a problem at Toyota Center that would probably never happen at a Houston Rockets game. Or at the upcoming Fleetwood Mac concert in June.

I'm really happy my family is season ticket holders and we already had our tickets. Honestly, the Toyota Center really pissed me off. Last night as fans were leaving the game, the employees were all being extremely nice and telling us to drive safely. They've never done that before. At the end of the game when the Aeros saluted the fans, half the people probably didn't realize that it would be the last regular season game they would see the Houston Aeros play. The ones that did tried to smile and be happy but it is devastating for hockey fans in Houston that we won't have them anymore.
What a sad state of affairs and I couldn't agree more on the note if this were the Rockets or a concert.
Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds.
As a season ticket holder it was a very bittersweet night and yes I was teary-eyed at the end.
What makes it even more so the players and the coaches obviously do not want to leave.
at least that's my humble biased opinion.
The only consolation I can get out of this is a deep playoff run while the Rockets sit at home.
I feel for all the loyal aeros fans. Peoria fans are all going thru the same anguish.
Devastating. Indeed. Tis all i can say other than, ill be writing the Toyota Center.
Been meaning to post here, but my son and I were at the window when the system crashed. My son is a huge Aeros fan and has said often his goal is to play for the Aeros when he gets old enough. He is 6 now. We were also celebrating his friends birthday that night. So, when we couldn't get our tickets, he was becoming more and more upset. He even started to cry because he was worried we might miss the opening face off. One lady behind the glass tried to consul him, but all he wanted was to get inside. We did finally get a piece of paper that said where our seats were, but not before waiting 45 min. One more showing on how we Aero fans are not wanted anymore.
Portland is having serious lease issues too.

Phoenix would be a good fit in Houston in a couple of regards - shorter travel to/from the parent club, plus the Tip/Smitty/Z connection. But Portland is not owned by the Yotes.
even though other ahl teams are having issues I would find it hard to believe that another minor league team could find its way into toyota center.

The Pirates reached an agreement, so that leaves the 'Nucks and Flames as potential suitors for the Toyota Center.
This scenario has a low probability of happening, but if the Wild are hot to move to Des Moines, the Canucks want into Abbotsford, and the Flames want out because the folks in Abbotsford are all Canucks fans, might a franchise swap be in order?
The Wild buy the Rivermen and move them to Des Moines, The Flames buy the Aeros, and the Canucks buy the Heat. Air travel between Calgary and Houston is a ton better than between Utica and Calgary (and common between the two energy cities).
I know it sounds crazy, but it is getting on to silly season, where anything can happen.
