Broda just finished his 5th year in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen and had 73 points in 66 games. Not bad, right? But the Washington Captials, who drafted him in the 5th round of the 2008 draft, failed to sign him to an entry level deal last year and then he was passed over in this year's entry draft.
So, obviously there's something about him that teams aren't comfortable with. But the Wild have taken a chance on him with a 3 year deal that will almost certainly see him in Houston for a while.
